Preparing for your session
Congratulations on your new baby! A newborn session is a beautiful way to capture these fleeting first days. This guide will help you feel prepared and relaxed so we can create timeless, meaningful images together.
Before You Arrive
Feeding
- Try to keep baby awake for 60–90 minutes before your session if possible.
- Feed baby right before leaving or upon arrival to help them settle into a deep sleep.
- Bring extra milk or be prepared to feed during the session—breaks are completely normal.
What to Bring
- Extra diapers and wipes
- Pacifier (even if baby rarely uses one—it can help soothe)
- Extra bottles or pumped milk if applicable
- Burp cloths
- Any sentimental items you’d like included (blankets, heirlooms, name items)
What Baby Should Wear
- Dress baby in loose-fitting clothing that is easy to remove (zipper or button pajamas are perfect).
- Avoid tight socks or outfits that leave marks on the skin.
- A simple onesie or just a diaper is ideal—most outfits, wraps, and props are provided.
What Parents & Siblings Should Wear
Parents
- Neutral tones photograph beautifully: creams, soft grays, tans, muted earth tones.
- Avoid bold logos, neon colors, or busy patterns.
- Keep clothing comfortable—newborn sessions are slow and relaxed.
Siblings
- Simple, classic outfits work best.
- Neutral or soft colors without characters or logos.
- Let me know ages ahead of time so we can plan sibling poses efficiently.
